Yoga games. Emotional regulation. Relaxation. New friends.
Ages 4 to 12. One Friday a month, 4pm to 6pm.
At Love Yoga Leeds, we offer a warm, inclusive programme of Kids Yoga in Leeds designed to support children’s confidence, emotional regulation and mental wellbeing.
But we also know that not every parent can get their child to our Thursday 6pm Kids Yoga class.
That’s why, alongside our monthly Family Yoga and Kids Yoga Camps we have created something new – Kids Yoga Chill Club:
A monthly space for your child to connect to themselves in a fun, calm, welcoming environment.
Kids Yoga in Leeds
You already know yoga would help. Finding the class is the problem.
Most kids’ classes run at the exact time you’re still at work, or on the one evening that’s already gone to swimming. Then there’s a term to commit to, and a fortnight in, something clashes and you’ve paid for six weeks of guilt.
So we built one that doesn’t need to fit your week.
It runs once a month. There’s no term, nothing to catch up on, and no awkward conversation if you miss one. Drop off at 4pm, collect at 6pm.
Why it works
The part of the brain that manages impulse control and calming down, the prefrontal cortex, is still being built well into a person’s twenties. The part that produces big feelings is fully up and running by about four.
That gap is why a seven year old can go from fine to furious in roughly four seconds. It isn’t bad behaviour. It’s a wiring timeline, and no amount of asking them to calm down speeds it up.
What children can learn in the meantime is what to do with their body when a big feeling arrives. Breathing out for longer than you breathe in nudges the nervous system towards calm. It’s one of the very few tools a child can use anywhere, including in a classroom, a supermarket or the back of a car.
Research on yoga and breathing with children shows real, if modest, improvements in emotional regulation and attention. We’re not going to tell you it fixes everything. It’s a skill, and skills need practising. That’s what the two hours are for.
