Is there a quote, mantra, or philosophy that guides your teaching – or your life?
There is great power and healing in discomfort.
What inspired you to become a yoga teacher? As a professional dancer, I struggled with anxiety throughout my career. I was drawn to a way of moving where there wasn’t a mirror, where rest was encouraged, and where I could develop mindfulness to support my ability to cope with pressure as a dancer.
How would you describe your teaching style and the kind of space you hold? I teach from a place of empowering students to understand what their body needs. Through developing body awareness and exploring the transformative qualities of the breath, I encourage students to recognise when they need to rest and when they are ready to challenge themselves.
How do you want people to feel when they leave your class? More embodied, grounded and in tune with themselves.
What can someone expect if they’re coming to your class for the first time?A practice that combines flow and mobility to support the everyday function of the body, with moments of both strength and rest.
Is there a quote, mantra, or philosophy that guides your teaching – or your life? There is great power and healing in discomfort.
What do you do for fun outside of teaching?I love cycling, weight training and calisthenics!
Join Carly every Sunday from September for a soothing Yoga Flow and start your Sunday in the best possible way.
