Get to know Debs

I began my yoga practice in 2001 and discovered Qigong in 2017. Both have had a profound and transformative impact on my physical health, emotional resilience, and mental wellbeing. I am deeply committed to creating spaces where others can experience the powerful benefits of yoga and qigong for themselves.

Debs’ Yoga Path

My path has been shaped by the guidance, wisdom, and encouragement of the teachers who have inspired me along the way. Their belief in me was instrumental in supporting my decision to train as a teacher.

Children’s Yoga

My teaching journey began with children’s yoga and continues to be rooted there. I have always loved working with children and feel strongly about helping to make their lives feel easier, kinder, and more supported. Bringing together my love of yoga and my passion for supporting children felt like a natural and meaningful direction.

Looking back, I often reflect on how helpful it would have been to have known then what I know now, how simple breathing techniques can soothe the nervous system, and how balancing in a posture like tree pose can support focus and concentration. Perhaps exams would have felt less overwhelming, and experiences like bullying less deeply distressing.

Yoga for babies toddlers, kids and teens

I teach across all ages, from babies and toddlers through to children, teenagers, and adults. I have a particular interest in supporting children with additional needs and disabilities, as well as those experiencing mental health challenges or trauma. My classes are informed by the many styles of yoga I have practised and the teachers who have influenced me. I teach with warmth and authenticity, always meeting each child exactly where they are, and bringing lightness and humour into the space.

I see yoga as creative, playful, and educational — accessible to every age and every ability. It offers us both understanding and practical tools to live with greater integrity, compassion, and self-awareness. Having yoga in my life is something I feel deeply grateful for.

I completed my 200-hour training with Seasonal Yoga Academy in Glasgow and continue to deepen my studies in Seasonal Yin, Advanced Seasonal Yang, Yoga Philosophy and Meditation, Seasonal Qigong, Special Yoga, Trauma Sensitive Yoga, Trauma Informed Yoga and Restorative Yoga.

Yoga for Additional Needs

I trained with Birthlight to teach babies and toddlers, and hold children’s yoga qualifications with Breathe and Be You, alongside specialist training in yoga for additional needs through Special Yoga.

Testimonials

“My daughter has been having bi weekly sessions with Debs for over two years, my daughter has complex needs, wheelchair user, and a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy. A strong and comfortable relationship and bond has been established, my daughter benefits physically, emotionally and mentally from these sessions and I could not recommend Debs enough she is truly amazing and always ready to adapt sessions to my child’s needs.”

“Yoga with Debs was miraculous on Saturday for my children. One was very dysregulated beforehand and the yoga gave him the sensory input he needed and also really helped him emotionally – it was the calmest I’d seen him all week. My other child spent the whole day telling everyone how she’d been doing yoga to help her clear her mind! Debs is amazing with the children and was even able to offer some tips to help with some physical issues. Thank you Debs

Is there a quote, mantra, or philosophy that guides your teaching – or your life?

“..There is a right yoga for every person…one size does not fit all. Yoga is adapted carefully to individual needs according to body type, age, health and, very importantly, cultural background. This ensures that each person’s Yoga is their own, rather than striving to replicate someone else’s ideal. Then, and only then, Yoga is practiced as direct intimacy with life itself, reality itself."
TKV Desikachar

“If you can breathe, you can do Yoga.”
